Our work is aimed at Bangladeshi community in Westminster, both young and old but not exclusively, because the multi-cultural composition of this community enables our activities to penetrate wider society and allow the messages to reach people of other ethnic/cultural groups.
Our office is based in Queens Park, a multi-cultural area with a high number of ethnic minority groups including Refugees and Asylum Seekers. Our work is essential to the community as it aims to educate, train, care and support Bangladeshi people, particularly women and young people on a range of health and social care issues, including the opportunities for greater community integration and economic prosperity. Our work also aims to empower the Bangladeshi community to make informed decisions about their lifestyle by raising awareness of health issues that affect their welfare.
At a headline level, our work impacts on the social exclusion issues confronting Bangladeshi elderly people, women and young people in the community.
Finally, through our various activities, we look to build capacity of the Bangladeshi community as well as the wider BME communities by providing training and education through our supplementary education project and opportunities for volunteering.
