Navigating one's way around the public health and social care arena can be very daunting for many people. This is even more difficult if language and communication pose barriers. So, in 2002, it came as no surprise when the Imperial College published findings of a research in which it was stated that 62% of respondents wanted advice and support for issues such as Housing; Employment; Healthcare and Welfare benefits - particularly pensions. Supplementary Education and Parents Involvement Projects

98% of parents interviewed for the Imperial College research, stated categorically that a priority for them was their child/children's education. QPBA shares this view and for many we have provided two flagship projects in response to the identified needs. more

Health Education Project

National data suggest that Bangladeshis are 1.5 times more likely (than Indian, African, Asian, Chinese and White) to suffer ill health; five times more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than White people, and 50% more likely to suffer coronary heart disease. There is evidence that health promotion needs to be delivered in a way that is more appropriate to the Bangladeshi community, and there is a body of experience as to how this might be achieved. more
